The way we breed

A commitment to quality in both structure and character: our breeding philosophy.

Every breed has its own secret, just as we believe every owner has their perfect dog to choose. Each breed has its perfect owner, its most suitable lines, for a life together committed to welfare. We have witnessed the evolution of many breeds; far from being single-minded, we have enjoyed dogs of very different breeds at home, and I believe the ones with us today are the result of selecting those best adapted to our way of life, a life close to nature, surrounded by countryside and horses. We have never wanted to keep or breed so-called commercial breeds; we have always enjoyed minority breeds, and each of them has written at home a page full of successes and experiences. We understand breeding as a form of art, seeking to do things based above all on respect for the history and the legacy that others built before us in each breed, while aiming to set a stamp of our own. I believe we have achieved it.

Breeding is a sacrifice and carries great responsibility. Far from the glitter of conformation titles, it demands total dedication to the future of the breed in every mating we select, failing many times of course, but trying to stay faithful to a defined type, a perfect character, a full life together and, needless to say, the best possible health.

We want our dogs to win titles, but without neglecting their ability to be fully enjoyed by their owners. I have always said that I personally enjoy simply watching dogs of exceptional beauty as I look out of the window or as they share the sofa with me, but I understand that others enjoy them more through a sporting activity of some kind, and for that you need versatile dogs that adapt to what you like. Perhaps that is why we are not content to breed a single breed: each one brings something different and enriches you in a different way.

We are breeders. Every day we try to honour a commitment we have taken on to preserve and improve each of the breeds we raise, studying every mating to improve with each new litter. The aim is not to produce or to sell, but to enjoy the journey and the madness of our way of life.

Today we mainly breed the Andalusian Ratonero Bodeguero, Whippet, Welsh Corgi Pembroke, PDAE and Spanish Water Dog.

Over the years we have also bred other breeds with some success. Others have always been with us, like the Spanish Greyhound — and yet we were never able to breed anything with them, but they will always be by our side. We have bred Afghan Hounds, Scottish Terriers, Miniature Pinschers, Smooth Fox Terriers, Piccolos, Dobermanns, Portuguese Water Dogs, and even wire-haired Kaninchen Dachshunds, always with the best bloodlines of each breed and with the same goal: to breed exceptional dogs.

Over all these years competing with our dogs, to date they have won close to 500 championship titles in many countries (18 World Champion titles among them) and across fifteen different breeds. And counting…
