Our dogs
OUR HISTORY WITH WHIPPETS
Our first whippet came by chance, at a time when we were just getting into the world of dog shows with Afghan Hounds. Our mentor, John Hansen, also received — as a gesture of friendship — bitches from the Do Vale Negro affix of Carla Molinari (Portugal), and he gave us a dog from his first litter in '95, Jahrog All In One (aka Hugo). Hugo was everything the owner of a show dog could hope for, with great wins in the beauty rings, and the dog that introduced the breed into our home. From then on (and until the end) there will always be whippets at home. Back then it was a practically unknown breed in our country; today they are far more popular. Everyone who comes close to the breed ends up enchanted by its beauty and character. For me it is the best breed in the world because it has all the advantages and none of the drawbacks inherent to each breed. Outgoing, elegant, clean, healthy, sporty, easy in every way. Since the passing of Stephen Mason (Broadacres whippets), we are the oldest kennel of the breed in Spain.
Our breeding base starts from dogs with American and English blood, the kind of pedigree that Jackie Bourdin (Du Manoir de la Grenouillère) bred in France, with the addition of a somewhat higher percentage of Canadian and American blood. Today that is the type of whippet we mostly see at the continental level. For me the challenge is to breed a dog with American type and movement in a slightly smaller frame. For many years we avoided the coarseness of the English whippet, but it has recently evolved very favourably towards the elegance of the American type thanks to crosses with imported dogs, so that today we can enjoy a consistent type almost worldwide.
Hugo
Multi champion Jahrog All in One, born in 1995, bred by John Hansen, was our first whippet. He was a wonderful family dog who coined our motto: "once you have a whippet, you will always have whippets around you." Among other things he was Best Dog of the Year in Group X in 1997, Champion of Andalusia, Spain, Gibraltar and International, and a multiple group winner.

Fraguel´s Arabian Song, from Hugo's first litter and our first whippet litter in '97, the apple of our eye as a family dog, a sweetheart of a bitch. She competed little but won quite a bit in junior classes. Later, although she took a CAC, she did not finish her championships because of her small size. Mother of litter B, with which we won a World Puppy Championship in Oporto with Fraguel´s Born to Kill.
View pedigreeMaya
MultiCh. Gallahad´s Guantanamera. Bred by Luisa Rufino in Portugal, she came to be our nieces' dog. She summed up all the Do Vale Negro lines, competed and won a great deal, was Champion of Portugal, Gibraltar and International, and then became the mother of our litter F, which can be said to be the foundation of all our breeding.
View pedigreeLeila
MultiCh. Fraguel´s Femme Fatale, born from Maya's litter with the American champion Lynallan´s Rio at Brushwoods, a dog imported from Canada to our country by our friend Ignacio García, without doubt one of the best whippets ever to pass through here, also Champion of Canada, Portugal, Spain and International. Rio brought us the best of the American Saxonshore lines, undoubtedly the best moving whippets in the world. Leila was an extraordinary family dog and also won a great deal, becoming another pivotal axis of our breeding with her litter by the English champion Falconcrag Giocosso, our litter P, where we bred several of our best champions.
View pedigreeBlanca
Multi champion Fraguel´s Exsighting Girl, daughter of Hugo and Huilaco´s Jessica, a bitch bred by Norman Huidobro from a very interesting English-American mix, mother of our litters E and H. Blanca also took her Gibraltar, Portugal and International titles and was mother of litters G (MultiCh. Fraguel´s Guonderfuul Guy) and J.
View pedigreeChiquidehugo
Fraguel's Extravaganzza. Sister of Blanca; she never competed because of one blue eye, but she was a great family dog and mother of litters I and L.
View pedigreeGrifo
Fraguel´s Impossible is Nothing. He was my sister-in-law's dog, a real gentleman who did not like to compete. He had a beautiful colour and expression. Father of litters O and N (where Fraguel´s Never Say Never was born, belonging to our breeder friend Antonio Bono, Ukelele´s, mother of champion U Merengue Merengue, whom we would later use).
View pedigreeIris
Fraguel´s Octopussy. Almost without meaning to, she summed up all our lines and produced some of the litters that have since carried on our breeding, being the mother of several champions that started off breeder friends such as Fraguel´s Yesterday is History or Fraguel´s Vulture Culture.
View pedigreeBrowny
Fraguel´s Public Enemy, without doubt the dog of my life. His litter produced several champions, all with exceptional movement and fantastic type. Brown combined a perfect height with a hyper-elegant yet masculine type; besides winning a great deal he was a magnificent sire, developing a line of females fundamental to our bloodline.
View pedigreeJack
Fraguel´s Perfect Eleven. Another of the exceptional males of litter P, we decided to send him with Luky to the Czech Republic to have a dog competing in central Europe. He did really well, winning many titles and as a sire. C.I.B. – International Beauty Champion; CZ CH – Czech Conformation Champion; SK CH – Slovakian Conformation Champion; CZ VCH – Czech Veteran Champion; PL VCH – Polish Veteran Champion; SK VCH – Slovakian Veteran Champion; PL VW – Poland Veteran Winner; CZ Club VW 2021 – Czech Club Veteran Winner 2021; CZ Club VW 2020 – Czech Club Veteran Winner 2020; SK Club VW 2020 – Slovakia Club Veteran Winner 2020; SK Speciality VW 2020 – Slovakia Speciality Veteran Winner 2020; MultiCH ICH CW NW BOV.
View pedigreePuzzle
Fraguel´s Puzzle Piece and her sister Fraguel´s Pure Poison have been the two great females of the kennel of our friend Judit Martínez. They competed and won quite a bit internationally, but most importantly Puzzle gave continuity to our project through her mating with the great American/Dutch champion Woodbrook's Ask Me How I Feel James, a dog I fell in love with while judging him in Belgium a thousand years ago. This was the first litter of our second alphabet in the breed, with great champions such as Ch. VCh. Esp Fraguel´s Anonymous Assassin, JCh Gib Esp Fraguel´s Against Rules Again, USA CH Fraguel´s Adams Family Rib.
View pedigreeWow
Fraguel´s Apocalypse Wow, brother of the above, was a case apart, because he died very young from accidental poisoning, so he barely competed, but he did have time to leave his mark in litters F2 and G2. A large but well-proportioned dog with exceptional type. A true gentleman at home, with a lovely character, he also brought us a palette of colours previously unknown in our breeding.

QUINTA Fraguel´s Quintaessence, Q Fraguel´s Quest for Glory, ROCKY Fraguel´s Rock or Rules, NEWYORK Fraguel´s Xasonshore, DEVIL Fraguel´s Devils Advocate, in charge of replicating the line, mothers of litters C2, E2, J2, F2, G2, H2 — the latter home to our most representative champion, Fraguel´s Hare Devil, belonging to our friend Fadrique.
View pedigreeGrei & Fama
Fraguel´s Great Pretender, another of our star males, who became a champion in record time. Son of Wow and NewYork, with a distinctive, highly attractive watercolour colouring, he is the sire of several of our latest FAMA litters. From the Wow x Rocky litter, an only daughter, she was raised as such: a female of exceptional American type, with a beautiful red brindle, strong and consistent in type. She has been decisive in our recent line of succession, being our most prolific female through her litters with Grey (R2 and K2), with Moto (U2 — the only litter in which we produced blue whippets) and V2, and with Browny (P2).
Pedigree 1Pedigree 2Bonie
Fraguel´s Private Dancer, from the last litter Browny produced, was a truly beautiful bitch, with a gorgeous blue brindle like her grandmother's; she recently died of leishmaniasis, the endemic disease that most affects our area, and leaves lovely offspring in the Y2.
View pedigreeMoto
the latest import, came as a birthday surprise, because my wife knew of my interest in Daniel Novack's dogs. JCh. Icon of Hungarian Diamonds, with a sensational, basically American pedigree, son of the famous Rock N Roll N Cha Cha Cha, closing our pedigree back to James, and with such an exclusive, attractive black colour. And the character — a little different (my friend Arnaldo, of Sobresalto whippets, says all the black ones are rascals), somewhat maddening and forever childish but adorable. Father of our litters U2, V2 and A3, where there are impressive young prospects, the best known being Dracul.
View pedigreeThe Three Graces
the three blondes: ROJITA Fraguel´s Unicorns Revenge, AZAWK Fraguel´s Unfollow the Rules and CREMA Fraguel´s Ultimate Reason. From litter U2, the result of Moto x Fama, we kept all the females. The cross was extraordinary on pedigree, closing — though far back — on James, and even better in person. Females of a very tidy size with classic silhouettes and extras all over: spectacular necks, dream angulations, super expressions. They are the future at Fraguel´s.
View pedigreeDracul
JCh. Ch. Esp, EspKCE, Ser. Bos. Mor. GCh. Mor Fraguel´s Vlad Dracul, the black heir currently competing with Kinga in central Europe, has left at home litter Y2 with very promising prospects. I hope to be able to show his littermates from litter V2, because they are truly magnificent.
